Process Mapping & Workflow Diagramming
As a graphic designer and born organizer/planner, I naturally have been drawn (no pun intended) to graphically representing processes, workflows, and step-by-step instructions. It helps that I've also spent the last 13 years working for various companies demonstrating my strength in this area of design.
My theory on Process Mapping and Workflow Diagramming relies heavily on visuals and process to relay my intended message. There is always a time and place for great writing, and no design can survive without it. I only contend that quality imagery deserves a place on the page as well.
Because a vast majority of my work in this area of design was done "for" the company I worked for at the time of it's design, I cannot place a lot of it up here. However I have "cleaned up" a small collection of representative samples for you to look over and get a feel for my style.
All of the designs were created with a combination of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator (Graphics) Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Visio (Text, Layout)

CMS Workflow
This workflow matches the "CMS Workflow" document in the Instructional / Education Design section. I knew that this process needed a little more "flair" than what Microsoft Visio could provide, so I created this by hand.
Content Upload/Review/Approve Process
Created in Microsoft Visio, this illustration of a "complex process" lays out the process for how content is created, uploaded, sent through the review cycle and ultimately approved for publication on the company's Content Management System (CMS) This process also includes all known dependencies and assumptions.
PrintQ Upload
Created in Microsoft Visio, this illustration of a "simple process" lays out the process for how approved content is uploaded to the printing queue (PrintQ) on the company's Content Management System (CMS) This process also includes all known dependencies and assumptions.
Community Software Development Timeline
Created in Adobe Photoshop, this illustrated timeline lays out the 4-month development and implementation process for the company's new community software. Because of the overlapping nature of many of the pieces, I chose to abandon the typical "roadsign marker lines" and opt for semi-transparent color blocks instead.
